The New England Trans United Pride March and Rally will take place in Northampton, Massachusetts. This event, with its theme “Live Proud Transcend Injustice,” is being organized to bring together the diverse trans and gender-variant community and our allies across the region to celebrate and affirm our strength and dignity.

The March and Rally will take a visible stand for transgender civil rights in New England. It will also build awareness of the movement to eliminate gender-based discrimination, educate about the lives and struggles of trans and gender-variant people, and showcase our artistic and intellectual talent.

The goals of the New England Trans United Pride March and Rally 2010 :

*Unite a community of individuals who represent all gender expressions into a social and political force to attain equality and acceptance in society through achievement of transgender civil and human rights

*Encourage transgender and gender-variant people and our allies to speak out for social, political, and economic justice of under-represented and marginalized communities, and support the right of all communities to be respected and heard

*Engage all members of the community to support and work for passage of Massachusetts H.B. 1728, ”An Act Relative to Gender-Based Discrimination and Hate Crimes,” and Connecticut H.B. 6452, “An Act Concerning Discrimination,” among other non-discrimination and hate crimes legislation pending in New England states

*Engage all members of the community to support and work for passage of a transgender-inclusive federal Employment Non-Discrimination Act (ENDA)

*Foster the self-determination of all trans and gender-variant people as expressed in the International Bill of Gender Rights: http://transgenderlegal.com/ibgr.htm.
